A Guaranteed Afternoon Nap

Spencer gave up his nap when we potty trained him back in October, but if he is particularly tired and I think he needs one, we'll go for a walk in the stroller. Works every time.

A quiet moment

I caught both Spencer and Esther settled down with a book one day recently at the same time. Esther thinks it's really cool to climb onto Spencer's bed (which is just a mattress on the floor right now) and look at her big brother's books. We make weekly trips to the library and even then are desperate to return to get new books by the end of the week. Daniel keeps talking about the day when we'll all have our Kindles and "check out" books from home, but until then we'll enjoy the good old fashioned paper ones and our regular outings to the library.

A few words from Esther

"I love my toothbrush. I love baths, but not as much as I love my toothbrush. If Daddy hands me my toothbrush I will let him take me out of the bathtub without a fit. I may even lie still when he puts on a new diaper, if I still get to hold my toothbrush. I may just let him put my pjs on too, as long as I have my toothbrush. But don't take it away when you think I'm done. I'm not done until I'm done, and not any sooner. Oh, toothbrush, I love you so."

From the Mouth of Spencer

"I ran straightly because I have my running shoes on."

"Crying makes the owie come off."

(Singing ) "Skip to my loop my darling."

"Mommy, picking up toys is dangerous for big girls."

"What in my goodness?!"

"Does this go here? Surely it does."

"Where does underwear come from?"

S: Ouch, Mommy, that hurt.
M: I was just giving you a friendly pat on the back.
S: But I'm not a dog.

"I hugged her really nice. She didn't cry."

"I don't believe my eyes!"

Pointing to a tear on Esther's face: "That's a little drop from her crying."

Like Father Like Son

Can you find the similarity between these two (besides their helpfulness in cleaning the house)?

It might be easier to find in the still shot.

Snow Day

"Tippecanoe County is under a Level 2 Travel Advisory. This restricts travel to essential trips only, including to work and school and to obtain necessary medical care, food, fuel or shelter."

Even with that advisory schools were canceled yesterday and today, including Purdue. We are snug and warm at home and happy not to have to be out on the roads, considering how slippery it is. (See attached video I just took.)
