I can't believe I'm 30!!

I really don't care about getting older, but it's hard to believe that I'm really and truly 30 years old now! I had a wonderful birthday on Friday thanks to my sweet husband who gave me a day off while he stayed home with the kids. I left the house at 9:00, before Spencer even woke up, and first dropped the van off to get an oil change. (I couldn't not do something useful while I was out!) The place was right next to the mall so I headed over there, stopping in Barnes and Nobles first. Daniel surprised me by getting me a Nook eReader, which I picked up there and stayed to get registered and all set up. Daniel has been working hard to convince me that the eReaders have enough advantages over paper books to be worth trying, and after testing it out, I now agree! I'll definitely still read paper books, but the Nook is very cool. I enjoyed the rest of the day shopping, reading, and eating lunch all by myself. It was wonderful!! The best part about going away was coming home. When I pulled into the garage, Esther and Spencer were at the door smiling and waving at me. They're not usually so excited to see me since I'm always with them! Daniel had dinner ready to go, yummy chicken alfredo and delicious homemade apple pie for dessert. It was a a great birthday!!

We downloaded a bunch of free books and church stuff for starters and they work great. The best part is reading in bed, it's so much lighter than holding a 300 page book above my head!

Halloween!!

I took Spencer and Esther trick-or-treating around our neighborhood while Daniel stayed home to hand out candy. Spencer was excited that he got to "ding the doorbell" at each house and Esther surprised me by not hesitating to reach her hand in and pick out candy when they offered it to her. They both thought it was the coolest thing ever to go door to door getting candy and were great sports about it. It took us one hour to walk around the block but we made it back just as it was getting dark. The weather was perfect too, we couldn't have asked for anything more!

A close up of this cute little lady bug!!

(You can check out her cousin in the same costume last year here. Thanks Amy!)

Visit from Gramma and Grampa

My parents came to visit in October and we had a wonderful weekend together. Esther really warmed up to them which is real progress for her. Spencer got to pick out a new bike with them for his birthday present and he is ready to ride! Thanks so much for coming, come again soon!!
