Easter

Spencer was super excited to get to do an egg hunt first thing in the morning, after emptying his Easter basket (bucket) that is. We have done multiple egg hunts by now, he just can't get enough of it, and he likes to take a turn hiding the eggs and then telling us where they are when we go look for them. We put Kix and Cheerios in Esther's eggs and she caught on fast that if she brought me an egg she would get a snack.

Daniel liked how Esther goes straight for the shoes in the second picture. It may be an age thing or we may be in for a lot of shopping with Esther because she loves shoes!!

Trying to get into Spencer's loot.

I always love seeing girls dressed up in pretty dresses on Easter and I'm glad I'll get to do that with Esther. The shoes were sadly a little too big for her but hopefully she'll grow into them soon.

The new home for Esther's clock. (This photo is mainly for you, Amy, who gets small thrills out of simple house-decorating triumphs like I do. The clock is actually more purple than it looks in the photo and matches the purple blankets Esther uses in her crib.)

Some pretty tulips that I will attempt to plant outside in a few weeks. (An SLR sure would be nice for shots like this but I'm trying to be content with our point-and-shoot for now).

I love seeing all the beautiful flowers everywhere and can't believe how much better I feel seeing green grass outside once more. Spring is always so refreshing and I am so grateful for the peace and comfort of Easter as we celebrate Christ's life and resurrection.

Introducing ...

We have loved our blue, 1993 Park Avenue, but we have not loved the many repairs it has needed in recent months, so we are happy to welcome a new blue vehicle to our family: a 2003 Honda Odyssey. I am so used to driving a car that I don't trust that it will take a while for the van to gain my trust, but so far so good. We look forward to more road trips and fewer visits to the mechanic's. And I'm loving the sliding doors.

A Guaranteed Afternoon Nap

Spencer gave up his nap when we potty trained him back in October, but if he is particularly tired and I think he needs one, we'll go for a walk in the stroller. Works every time.

A quiet moment

I caught both Spencer and Esther settled down with a book one day recently at the same time. Esther thinks it's really cool to climb onto Spencer's bed (which is just a mattress on the floor right now) and look at her big brother's books. We make weekly trips to the library and even then are desperate to return to get new books by the end of the week. Daniel keeps talking about the day when we'll all have our Kindles and "check out" books from home, but until then we'll enjoy the good old fashioned paper ones and our regular outings to the library.

A few words from Esther

"I love my toothbrush. I love baths, but not as much as I love my toothbrush. If Daddy hands me my toothbrush I will let him take me out of the bathtub without a fit. I may even lie still when he puts on a new diaper, if I still get to hold my toothbrush. I may just let him put my pjs on too, as long as I have my toothbrush. But don't take it away when you think I'm done. I'm not done until I'm done, and not any sooner. Oh, toothbrush, I love you so."
