Special Day

Today my sister Megan entered the Provo Missionary Training Center. We are so excited for her to serve in the Italy Milan Mission and know that she is prepared to be a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. I love her and will miss her but couldn't wish for a better way for her to spend 18 months.

Jenny, Megan, Spencer and I enjoyed eating out together yesterday.

"I'm sure gonna miss you Aunt Megan!"

We also enjoyed a visit with Kristy, Daniel's sister, who came out last Friday with her family to visit her in-laws. Charlotte and Spencer are just 2 months apart, and already having fun as cousins!

Photo Shoot

As Tamara requested, here is one of my recent conversations with Spencer:

"You know, Mom, this photo shoot is fun and all ..."

"... but I'm giving you one good reason why we should stop."

"I gotta go."

Anniversary

Yesterday Daniel and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary by going to the Manti temple, which is about 2 hours south of Provo. Since Spencer is still nursing we brought our babysitter along with us, my sister Jenny, and the two of them enjoyed the temple grounds while we were in the temple. I have been in the Manti temple once before for my friend Becca's wedding and have always wanted to go back. It is so beautiful inside, as well as outside, and it was great to be there with Daniel and to think back to our wedding. One of the temple workers asked Daniel how long he has been married, and to a 70-80 year old, 2 years must not sound like much, but they have been the best two years of my life.

The camera batteries died just as we were taking a picture of the two of us, but here's one of our happy little family.

Our fantastic babysitter!

A Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful day. The talks in church were excellent, I enjoyed the time I had with Daniel and Spencer, and Jenny joined us for dinner and a visit with Mom through the webcam. This is a great country that takes a full day to honor mothers.

I was sad to find out that this picture is a little blurry. Both Jenny and I thought it looked good when she took it, so we thought we had a winner. As long as you look at it from a distance, it still looks good ...

The Quilt

In answer to your question, Amy, no, I did not make the quilt pictured below. It was a wedding gift from some sisters in Iowa City (Joyce Jeppsen, Sandra English, Catherine Anderson, Trudy Russell, Lorene Hunter, and maybe a few others). The quilt I made is the one on our couch, which you can see in several pictures in this blog. I love the colors in the wedding gift quilt and was so surprised to find out that the Iowa City sisters had actually made one for me. I trade it with the blue comforter you gave us once or twice a year to have some variety. I also discovered that it made a great backdrop for Spencer's 6 months photos. I've tried to be consistent with his monthly pictures by using the Boppy and having him in a onesie. These are some of my favorites from this month:

This one's for you, Mom

When my mom was in town, we went out to eat and discovered how much Spencer liked joining us at the table.

And now we want to thank you, Mom, for the new booster seat. Spencer now gets to join us at the big table at home, and he loves it!

As yummy as the food may be, however, those utensils are still a lot of fun!

(He had stolen Mom's fork without her seeing.)
