Where did April go?
We have had a month of colds, coughs, and fevers but we are all feeling better now (except for a lingering cough for Daniel). Other than the sicknesses, we have had a fun time watching Spencer begin some new things. We also had a great visit with my mom and my sister, Megan, who is getting ready for her mission. She will be back in June to report to the MTC, and then she will be off to the Italy Milan Mission!! We are very excited for her and know she's going to be a wonderful missionary.
Spencer's latest craze is tags. They are the first thing to go in his mouth. Daniel even got him to go down for a nap by giving him the tag on this cat rattle.

Funny Video
There's not much I need to say about this, except for that the noise really is coming from his mouth. And you might want to be careful if you're watching it at work.
I'm Back
Daniel finally found the monitor of his dreams, which went on sale last week, so I now have mine back and am up and running again. I enjoyed seeing what everyone else did for Easter, so I thought I'd share ours. We had a wonderful dinner with my brother and sister, Neil and Jenny, with some of the food even prepared the night before (a great feeling for me since I didn't have to rush anything at the last minute). We had a delicious ham (thanks so much, Kristy, for the suggestion!!), mashed potatoes, green beans, a yummy spinach salad made by Neil, and a yellow cake with orange glaze for dessert. We enjoyed a walk to the temple before the sun went down and then came back and let Spencer entertain us until it was time for his bath. Easter usually sneaks up on me so I don't always fully appreciate it, but I was able to prepare this year, in addition to the food, with quality scripture study the week before as well as a nice Family Home Evening lesson. After having a child of my own my love for our Savior has grown even more as well as my appreciation for his glorious resurrection. I look forward to the blessed day when we will see Him again and am grateful for this wonderful holiday to celebrate His victory over death.
We attempted to get a family picture on Easter but didn't end up with one where we're all looking the right way. Here are the better ones:

Getting ready for bed
Spencer's latest trick is sitting up!! He's still a little tipsy, but he's getting there. I was wondering if he really would sit by 6 months and it looks like he made it. It's amazing how much babies can learn in just a few weeks. Other big milestones he's reached these last few weeks are rolling over, both ways, scooting backwards while on his tummy, and his first teeth! His two front bottom teeth have poked through!

Spencer, Spencer, Spencer
First of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. Daniel is currently using my monitor while we're looking for a new one, so I haven't had easy access to my computer.
Second of all, I realize that the majority of this blog is about Spencer, so for those wondering what else we have been up to, you'll just have to keep wondering. Just kidding. Well, at least until I take the time to write something else. But I'm pretty sure that most of you checking this blog are most interested in Spencer anyway. So, without further delay, here are more pictures of our little pride and joy:

He's a Talker
Our little Tarzan has found his vocal chords. This video is from a few weeks ago, but he is still going strong.

February
The other week I invited a friend over for lunch and she brought her 5-month old son, Asher, with her. Spencer hasn't quite learned that it isn't polite to stare, as that is all he did the whole time they were here. I'm curious what thoughts were going through his mind as he saw someone the same size as him. He wasn't as observant with his cousins over Christmas break, but maybe it's because he was in a new place. He is also getting much more observant in general, so he is probably noticing some things for the first time.

Spencer has just discovered that he has two ears sticking out the sides of his head. It was funny to watch him feel them, and from his expression, he must think they're pretty cool.

Out of the mouth of babes
The other day Spencer and I had a little conversation. I wish I could have gotten it on video, but the pictures capture the gist of it pretty well. I've included his words as best as I could remember.
"You're joking, right?"
"Now, let's get one thing straight. I'm the one with the bulging muscles, so I get to make the rules around here. And I say it's not time to change my diaper."
